About the owner

Matthew is a small business entrepreneur and Montgomery county native.  At age 16, primed by early lessons in salesmanship and home repairs, he began a painting and landscaping company. In 2001, he helped launch the catering division of Carmen’s Italian Ice in Rockville, MD. During his 10 years at Carmen’s, he helped grow the catering business from one cart in the back of his pick-up truck to a fleet of push carts, ice cream trucks and vans. In 2011, Matthew joined Luther Contracting, working for 8 months as a sub-contractor before coming on as a business partner. Major projects with Luther Contracting included an 1800’s farmhouse renovation (2015), an entire house remodel with a 540 square foot master suite addition (2016), an entire house remodel with 1000 square foot addition (2017-2018).  In 2019, he launched Tao Contracting, LLC. He currently specializes in restoration and remodeling of old and new homes alike.  He resides in Rockville, MD with his fantastic wife and two high-energy, inquisitive daughters.
